The Thanksgiving Farm is seeking an experienced herdsperson to join our diverse farming operation. We are a multi-location farm producing beef, pork, eggs, turkey, vegetables, herbs, flowers and honey. We are certified organic, Biodynamic, and Animal Welfare Approved (AWA). The Thanksgiving Farm is part of the Center for Discovery’s Department of Nourishment Arts where farmers work alongside our culinary staff and nutritionists to provide optimal food and nutrition for our residents and students who have developmental disabilities. We are a living model of Food is Medicine. This position includes on-site housing.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in animal husbandry, preferably with the following animal groups: grass-fed and finished beef cattle, pastured pork and pastured poultry or egg production. Haymaking experience is highly desirable. Candidates with strong organizational skills, an interest in rotational grazing, optimizing food quality and flavor, and creating farm-based educational and vocational opportunities are preferred.
