To use therapeutically based dance/movement experiences that promote the growth and development of our diverse population of kids and adults with disabilities, in accordance with standards established by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA).
The Dance Movement Therapist completes formal and informal assessments to determine the strengths and needs of individuals within the Therapeutic Dance setting by using assessment findings to determine the potential for an individuals to benefit and thrive from Therapeutic Dance on an ongoing basis in our exciting school, day hab and residential programs.
Plans individual and group Therapeutic Dance sessions/classes based on the strengths and needs of each individual. Also, conducts Therapeutic Dance sessions/classes that are safe, stimulating, educational, age appropriate and towards the development of specific skills.
Masters degree in Dance Therapy, Special Education, Dance Education and/or related field preferred, from an accredited college or university. This position requires flexible hours.
