The Center for Discovery is shaped by the belief that the quality of our lives is directly affected by our physical surroundings.

The Health Center, a model of energy efficient and environmentally sound heating & cooling practices, is approximately fifty percent more efficient than a conventional clinic and uses no fossil fuels. And it was the first facility of its kind to be registered with the US Green Building Council. But it is only one expression of a dedication to sustainable development and healthy spaces. The Center is also developing sustainable models for living by utilizing geo-thermal energy as well as solar and wind power, and pursuing bio-dynamic certification, through pioneering green farming practices.We create sustainable environments for the benefit of the staff and residents. In addition to a shared committed to environmentally responsible practices we are particularly mindful that we care for vulnerable people who may already be suffering from the adverse affects of a degraded environment. As we become more educated about the causes of Autism, for example, we are increasingly sensitized to the role that pesticides and other environmental toxins may play in the development of the condition.
