Our Approach

The residents here are offered farm based seasonal meals of the highest quality, which rests on the way our land is cared for and the way we grow food and raise our animals. Thanksgiving Farm is dually certified organic and biodynamic, which recognizes the farm is virtually self-sustaining and designed to provide for the long-term biological health of the soil and surroundings.

The effort to reach this extremely exacting level of certification goes beyond stewardship of the land—it speaks to a deepening commitment to a way of life that sustains The Center and its residents. The CSA  program is one example of how the community is enriched in many ways by sharing its bounty with staff, neighbors and friends. Fees help sustain the farming operation even as the farm stand provides opportunities for meaningful work for residents and a chance to invite the community in.
