Adult Health Services are directed toward assisting developmentally disabled adults to achieve
their capabilities in terms or human potential and individual integrity. Physicians and nurses are
involved with prevention and detection of illnesses as well as service to individuals and their families.
We also work with other members of the interdisciplinary team in a holistic approach to promote
wellness.
Our main focus is helping the individual to develop a positive concept of self and achieve greater
control of their environment through teaching positive health practices, preventing disease, maintaining
health, and providing care during acute illness episodes.
We also participate with other disciplines in activities that address the complexity of an individuals'
behavior patterns by advocating for each person exercising their human and civil rights; and serving as
a role model and resource for families, other service providers, and the community.
Health Service Staff also act as advocates when necessary to facilitate the maintenance and/or
achievement of health.
We have access to an on-site Adult Clinic, which provides primary, and specialty care, including
Neurology, Gastro-Intestinal, Podiatry, and Dermatology and other medical services.
